Francisco van Benthum 2009 S/S SEASON THEME
『 RADIANT 』
RADIANT/ SS '09 is the new collection of Francisco van Benthum. For Summer '09 he took inspiration from the movie classic "Lawrence of Arabia". The collection is infused with references to the Middle East: jellaba's, nomad's tents and desert life. To contrast with this romantic approach, he opposes a modern vision using details based on kite-surfing and rock-climbing. Van Benthum's signature elements - the uniform and sportswear - are naturally present throughout the collection.
RADIANT/ SS '09 is divided in three parts: one that is outspokenly styled, one that is more formal and a section with luxurious evening wear. The colors range from dusty orange, peach and sand to a variety of blue's, greys, whites and blacks. Fabrics for this collection are lightweight cotton, poplins, crispy nylon, coated silk and summer wools. RADIANT/ SS'09 includes suits, coats, shorts and knits, and is completed with a range of footwear and accessories.

His vision as a designer is clearly seen in his elegant men’s collections that take the traditional menswear wardrobe as a starting point. Within the outline of the traditional menswear silhouette Van Benthum shifts proportions and adds altered elements based on male stereotypes.
Both press and buyers showed a strong interest in Van Benthum’s previous presentations. His fully featured collections including formal and casual wear and a range of accessories and shoes have been warmly received.
With many sales points in The Netherlands Francisco van Benthum is currently developing his label on an international level. His first own concept store ‘NL = New Luxury’ was opened in January 2008 in Amsterdam.
