Strong sculptural shapes, fine crochet and revolutionary knitting govern the seventh season for Ioannis Dimitrousis.

Stirred by the texture, imagery, music and the communication of reality and fantasy of Guillermo Del Toro's 'Pan's Labyrinth'. Ioannis winds the fabrics into intricate twists of deep purple, sapphire blue, jet black and oak green - reminiscent of the mysterious imagery of the film, from the nature of the forest to an underground secret world of Pan the contrasts of life and death, dark and light and how they often live within each other. Dimitrousis explained 'once the lights are off, the knitted threads glow. Darkness reveals light and in the dark, and you can see the beauty. You can believe and dream.'

Dimitousis' mystical feminine is brought forth with glow in the dark yarn and lurex, coned bust and curved hips are detailed with crystal embroidery captures the essence of an alternate reality. Four simple machine knitted dresses and fivr intricate handmade crochet dresses embellished with crystals, are finished with boning interlining and zips designed by jewellery designer Katherine Marchbank. Autumn/Winter 2010 celebrates the journey of life's truths, dreams and realities, whilst retaining the image of a very feminine identity.

Ioannis Dimitrousis

Greek born designer Ioannis Dimitrousis graduated in 2005 from London college of Fashion in menswear. The presentation of the collection at London Graduate Fashion Weekrevealed his first experimetal ground to cobine unexpected fabric and decorative effects. Creating a sense of individuality is a motivating force.

His professional debut at on/off during London Fashion Week was an exciting opportunity to showcase his designs. Reviews from The International Herald Tribune by Suzy Menkes and a feature in "Fashioing Fabrics" (edited by Sandy Balck) gave the young designer much deserved recognition in the fashion industry.

Since then, the first genderless collections moved forward and took shape on women. Ioannis working along with his skilful mother continuing the contemporary exploration of traditional hand crafted techniques of crochet mixed with semi precious stones, crystal, pearls and beads through scarves, tops and dresses.

Looking closely at his work you gain respect for the intricate detailing that casts a spell. Ioannis' collections gather the individual ability of fabric manipulation. The combination of interesting texures, textile patterns and innovative pattern cutting with the attention to finedetail is a driving force. Organic materials, though luxurious, build up every season unique collections.
